Bring Your Own Device
Students attending Edwards-Johnson Memorial Silsbee Middle School or Silsbee High School will be allowed to bring personally owned electronic devices, which are internet aware, for use during the school day. All BYOD attached or connected to the Silsbee ISD network are subject to the same policies and procedures established for the use of district owned equipment. The use of BYOD must adhere to the Acceptable Use of the Electronic Internet Communications System (AUP) agreement. The student and parent/guardian must have signed and returned the AUP prior to using the device and accessing the district network.
What teachers and administrators are saying about BYOD...
"My math students use them to access the internet program www.thinkthroughmath.com. They say it loads and runs faster than our servers. This way they can earn more points faster than their classmates!"
– Middle School Math
"I have used a real time response website (Poll Everywhere) to review the kids on different objectives in the classroom. I will post a question on the website and the kids answer via text. Their answer immediately comes up on the screen, and the kids LOVE it!"
