State Mandated Assessments

  • The STAAR program encompasses STAAR, STAAR Spanish, and STAAR Alternate 2. STAAR focuses on increasing postsecondary readiness of graduating high school students and helps to ensure that Texas students are competitive with other students both nationally and internationally.

    • STAAR grades 3-8 includes assessments of writing, reading, mathematics, science, and social studies. STAAR EOC assessments are available for Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II, and U.S. History.

    • STAAR Spanish is available in grades 3-5 for each subject area assess when Spanish provides the most appropriate measure of academic achievement.

    Student STAAR Results

    To access your child's results, you will need to log into the Texas Assessment Management System with a unique access code and your child's date of birth at www.texasassessment.gov/families. You can contact your child's campus if you do not know your child's unique access code.

    TELPAS

    The Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) is designed to assess the progress that limited English proficient (LEP) students make in learning the English language. TELPAS measures English language proficiency in the following domains:

    • Grade K-1 reading, listening, speaking, and writing

    • Grade 2-12 writing

    •Grades 2-12 reading, listening, and speaking assessed online

    TAKS Out-of-School Testers

    Students who are no longer enrolled in school and need to take the TAKS test should register for the STAAR EOC exam by contacting the Curriculum Department at Silsbee ISD at (409) 980-7800.
