Dr. Douglas Moore has served 34 years as a Superintendent, two years as a high school principal, and 10 years as a teacher in Texas until his retirement in 2014.
Moore earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University before receiving a doctorate in Education from East Texas State University located in Commerce, Texas.
He began his teaching and coaching career at Hull-Daisetta, and he later became a high school principal. He also held Superintendent positions at Brady, Edinburg, Sealy, and Liberty before retiring in 2003. He quickly came out of retirement and returned as an administrator at Trinity ISD before stints at Oakwood ISD and Crockett ISD where he retired a second time.
He was active athletically having participated as a member of the Stephen F. Austin State University track team on a scholarship after winning a 2A championship in track while at Liberty High School in the 60s.
In 2014, Moore published “Orange, Not Lemon: Running the Curve of Education”, a book that is a reflection on his life and career in education.
