Silsbee Independent School District Advertising and Content Use Guidelines

Purpose

Silsbee Independent School District (Silsbee ISD) is committed to protecting the integrity, privacy, and safety of its students, staff, and intellectual property. These guidelines outline how district photos, logos, names, and likenesses of students or staff may be used in advertising, marketing, and promotional materials.

1. Ownership of Content

All photographs, videos, graphics, logos, and other visual or written materials produced by Silsbee ISD employees, contractors, or representatives during school-sponsored activities are the exclusive property of Silsbee ISD.
These materials are protected under applicable copyright laws and district policy.

2. Prohibition on Use for Profit

No individual, business, or organization may use Silsbee ISD-owned images, videos, or student likenesses for advertising, marketing, or any profit-generating purpose without express written permission from Silsbee ISD.
This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Commercial advertisements, posters, or products for sale

  • Sponsored content or promotions featuring Silsbee ISD students or staff

  • Business marketing materials referencing district programs, events, or activities

Any unauthorized use for profit constitutes a violation of Silsbee ISD policy and may result in legal or administrative action.

3. Permission and Request Process

Organizations seeking to use Silsbee ISD content for promotional or informational purposes must submit a written request to the Silsbee ISD Office of Communications.
Requests should include:

  • The intended use of the content

  • The materials or images requested

  • How and where the content will appear

Approval must be obtained in writing before any materials are used, printed, or distributed.

4. Student Privacy and FERPA Compliance

All uses of student names, images, or likenesses must comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Silsbee ISD’s student privacy policies.
Students whose parents have opted out of media release permissions may not be included in any public-facing or commercial content.

5. District Partnerships

Silsbee ISD values the partnerships it has built with community organizations and local businesses over the years.
We welcome collaboration that supports and celebrates our students; however, such collaborations must respect district ownership and consent policies.
Our goal is to maintain positive relationships within our small-town community while ensuring that all use of district content aligns with legal and ethical standards.

6. Enforcement

Unauthorized use of Silsbee ISD materials or student images for profit may result in:

  • Revocation of partnership privileges

  • Denial of future advertising or sponsorship opportunities with the district

  • Legal action to protect the rights of the district and its students
