2025-2026 Silsbee ISD Compensation Plan - Approved July 15, 2025

2025-2026 Silsbee ISD Compensation Plan - Approved July 15, 2025

July 15, 2025 - We’re excited to share that the Silsbee ISD Board of Trustees has approved salary increases across multiple employee groups for the upcoming school year!

This comes in response to House Bill 2, passed by the 89th Texas Legislature in June, which aims to strengthen teacher and staff retention through targeted compensation. Thanks to our small district size (under 5,000 students), we qualify for increased state support.

House Bill 2 Teacher Retention Allotment Requirements

  • 3–4 years experience: $4,000
  • 5+ years experience: $8,000

SISD Board-Approved Local Teacher Retention Allotment

  • 0 years certified: $2,000
  • 1 year: $2,500
  • 2 years: $3,000

Plus continuation of SISD Board-Approved Local Stipends

  • $1,000 Retention Stipend for all returning teachers
  • Longevity Stipend for teachers with 3+ years in the district: $600–$1,500

Other Staff Increases

Professional staff formerly included on the teacher hiring schedule have been moved to the Administrative/Professional Pay Schedule under Pay Grade 1 following TEA recommendations.  This includes:  Nurses (RN), Speech Therapy Assistants, ARD Facilitators, At-Risk Facilitators, ECHS Facilitator, Librarian

  • 5% raise at midpoint

Clerical & Paraprofessionals

  • 5% raise at midpoint
  • $1/hour increase for starting pay at minimum, midpoint, and max pay

Auxiliary Staff

  • 5% raise at midpoint

Diagnosticians

  • 6% raise at midpoint

Bus Drivers

  • 6% raise + Step Increase

The new structure reflects state requirements for differentiating compensation between certified and non-certified teachers. Some roles will appear on updated pay schedules due to these changes.

Note: All other Administrative Professionals and Directors will be reviewed during the August board meeting when the official budget is approved. This follows our normal timeline.

Superintendent Dr. Gregg Weiss, Executive Director Karen Ford, and Director of Business and Finance Tricia Brooks have worked tirelessly to build a plan that meets state guidelines and honors the hard work of our staff. On July 15 the SISD Board of Trustees approved the recommended compensation.  Despite the property value discrepancies between the Hardin County Appraisal District and the State Comptroller, resulting in nearly half a million funding loss to the district, our Board is committed to preserving the programs, positions, and opportunities that make Silsbee ISD exceptional.

We are deeply grateful to our teachers and staff for your dedication to our students and community. These raises are a reflection of your value and our promise to keep moving forward together.
