April 16, 2025 - After three decades of dedication, discipline, and championship-level coaching, Coach Joe Sigler has officially announced his retirement as Head Boys Basketball Coach at Silsbee High School, effective May 23, 2025.

In a message to the district, Sigler reflected on his journey leading the Tigers, calling the decision to step down one of the most difficult of his life.

"After 30 fulfilling years as head basketball coach with this incredible district, this decision was not made lightly,” Sigler wrote. “This community has been more than a place to work—it’s been a second home.”

During his 30-year tenure, Coach Sigler built a powerhouse basketball program that made five state tournament appearances and brought home two state championships. “I’ll never forget the feeling of walking into the Alamodome with our boys, knowing we had a shot to do something special,” Sigler said. “Winning those titles wasn’t just for us—it was for the whole town.”

Beyond the trophies, Sigler’s legacy is defined by his mentorship, character, and the countless student-athletes he’s guided along the way.

“The relationships I’ve built with players, coaches, and staff members have been the most rewarding aspect of my career,” he said. “Watching these young men grow into leaders and good people—that’s what coaching is really about.”

Silsbee ISD Athletic Director Randy Smith praised Sigler’s legacy, noting how his leadership helped shape generations of athletes.

“Coach Sigler is the embodiment of what it means to lead with integrity, passion, and heart,” said Randy Smith. “His legacy in Silsbee will be felt for decades to come.”
