All Silsbee ISD Students Eat Free During the 2024-2025 School Year

July 9, 2024 – The Silsbee Independent School District is thrilled to announce that all students will eat for free during the 2024-2025 school year. Committed to ensuring that no student goes hungry, the district will provide one free breakfast and one free lunch to every student throughout the academic year.

“Our hope is that this initiative will help alleviate some of the financial burdens placed on families,” said Kelsey Johnson, Director of Communications. “We understand times are tough, and every bit of support helps.”

Silsbee ISD has successfully secured participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), an initiative funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that enables eligible schools to offer non-pricing meal services. The district's proactive engagement with this program has been pivotal in achieving this milestone, allowing the district to extend this invaluable benefit to the entire student population.

Silsbee ISD became eligible for the program last year (2023-2024) and quickly submitted all necessary information to the state to qualify. The district's commitment to supporting student families, combined with its dedication to academic excellence, positions Silsbee ISD as a leader in educational initiatives.
