Excellence in Action: Silsbee ISD Teachers Earn State Recognition, Over $1 Million in Incentives

May 22, 2026 -- Silsbee ISD celebrated the outstanding achievements of its educators during the district’s May 2026 Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) recognition, honoring 66 teachers for earning state designations through the program.

Of the 66 teachers recognized, 23 earned a designation for the very first time, while 13 teachers advanced to a higher designation level, reflecting continued professional growth and excellence in the classroom. Teachers from across the district, including Laura Reeves Primary, Silsbee Elementary, Edwards-Johnson Memorial Silsbee Middle School and Silsbee High School, were recognized for their commitment to student success.

This year, Silsbee ISD awarded a total of $1,193,411 in Teacher Incentive Allotment funding, a significant increase from the $813,109 awarded during the previous year.

The Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment program was created to recognize and reward highly effective teachers while encouraging educators to continue growing in their profession. Teachers can earn Recognized, Exemplary, or Master designations based on classroom performance and student growth measures.

Superintendent Dr. Gregg Weiss praised the educators for their dedication and the impact they continue to make across the district.

“Our teachers continue to raise the bar for excellence in Silsbee ISD,” said. “This recognition reflects the incredible work happening in our classrooms every single day. We are proud of the commitment our teachers have shown to their students, their campuses and their own professional growth. Their success directly impacts the future of our students and our district.”

District leaders also shared excitement about the future of the program as Silsbee ISD prepares for the Fall 2026 submission cycle and continues expanding eligible teaching assignments. The district is currently awaiting approval from the Texas Education Agency for its 2026-2027 TIA Renewal Plan, which would provide additional opportunities for teacher growth and recognition moving forward.
