Silsbee FFA Brings the Heat in the Show Ring at Summer Sizzler

June 25, 2024 - Silsbee FFA showcases their talents in the ring over the weekend. On Saturday, June 22, 2024, Silsbee FFA hosted its annual Summer Sizzler Livestock Show. The heat did not stop the 200+ students from participating. Some competitors even drove from as far as Dallas to participate, which highlights the event’s growing reputation and significance.

The Summer Sizzler is known for its competitive nature but puts a big focus on a community-focused spirit. This year, 55 belt buckles and banners were awarded.

The primary objective of the event is to raise funds for the Silsbee FFA’s scholarship program. Each year, graduating seniors benefit from these scholarships, aiding their further education and development in the field of agriculture. Additionally, the funds support a range of chapter activities throughout the year, fostering growth and learning among its members.

“We are thrilled with the turnout and the level of participation we saw this year,” said Courtney Champagne Silsbee FFA Chapter Advisor. “The dedication of these young people to their animals and their craft is truly inspiring. Despite the extreme heat, they showed up and gave their best.”

The success of the Summer Sizzler would not be possible without the support of the community and the generous contributions from local sponsors.
