Silsbee FFA Shines at the Texas Rice Festival

Silsbee FFA Shines at the Texas Rice Festival

October 7, 2025 - Silsbee FFA members made an outstanding showing at the 2025 Texas Rice Festival, bringing home awards and recognition across multiple competitions; from floral design to livestock showmanship.

In the Floral Design Contest, our talented Tiger Lilies showcased incredible skill and creativity.

  • Sarah Langston – 3rd Place
  • Kam Blusek – 5th Place
  • Rhaliegh Cox – 7th Place
The image shows a group of people holding awards and certificates from the Texas Rice Festival, with a classroom-like setting in the background.

We also want to recognize the dedication of Matti Potter and Kylie Watson, who both competed and displayed stunning arrangements in a tough field of competitors. These five young ladies represented Silsbee FFA with excellence and artistry, proving that hard work truly blooms into success.

The success didn’t stop there though. The Silsbee FFA livestock team also had an impressive run in the show ring.

  • Sarah Langston earned Grand Champion Goat and first in her class.
  • Kenodie Dobbins placed second in her class.
  • Sarah Johnson won Best Opposite with her Mini Satin and Mini Rex rabbits and earned strong class placements with her other entries.
  • Lynzey Marble placed second in her Mini Rex buck class at her very first show, an extra special moment, as Lynzey was one of her teacher’s first freshmen and showed a rabbit bred through Silsbee High School’s animal science program.
  • Matti Potter placed first in her class with her F-1 heifer, Montana.
  • Kylee Champagne took first in her class and earned Division Champion with her English steer, Shawnee.

Not pictured, our livestock judging team also competed with several personal bests and welcomed new members to the team.

All of the credit goes to our incredible students and their supportive families who make these accomplishments possible. The dedication, passion, and pride displayed at the Texas Rice Festival truly reflect what it means to be a Tiger.

Now it’s on to Hardin County Week, and we know our Silsbee FFA students will continue to make us proud.
