Silsbee High School Educator Awarded $5,000 Grant for High-Fidelity Nursing Manikin
February 10, 2025 - Silsbee High School Health Science teacher Heather Wiggins has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Indormara, which will be used to purchase a High-Fidelity Nursing Manikin. This state-of-the-art training tool will provide students with hands-on experience in essential nursing skills, preparing them for careers in healthcare.
The High-Fidelity Nursing Manikin allows students to perform over 20 basic care functions, including CPR, patient assessment, wound and ostomy care, phlebotomy, and more. By working with this advanced simulation equipment, students will gain critical hands-on practice that will better prepare them for real-world medical scenarios.
Wiggins expressed her gratitude for the grant, emphasizing the impact it will have on her students and their future careers.
"I am beyond grateful to be awarded this generous grant that will support my health science students in their academic and professional journeys," Wiggins said. "Indorama's investment in the future of healthcare is invaluable, and it will significantly contribute to the education of those who will serve communities as skilled and compassionate healthcare providers. I am truly appreciative of their commitment to education and healthcare, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact this grant will have on my students."
Silsbee ISD is proud to support educators like Wiggins, who continuously seek opportunities to enhance student learning through innovative tools and experiences. The district looks forward to seeing the benefits this new equipment will bring to the Health Science program and the future healthcare professionals it will help develop.
