Silsbee High School Plant Science Teacher Blooms at Floral Retreat

June 18, 2024 – Silsbee High School’s Plant Science teacher, Courtney Champagne, hosted her annual Cultivated Blooms Floral Retreat earlier this month. The retreat, specifically designed for teachers, focuses on unleashing their creativity and mastering advanced techniques to bring back to their respective classrooms.

During the retreat, participants created stunning floral designs and had their styled shoots professionally photographed. This year, 25 teachers participated, including three who traveled from the West Coast to join the event.

Mrs. Champagne is an asset to the Agricultural Science courses at Silsbee ISD. She focuses on Plant Science and brings a creative joy to the program, nurturing her students' love for floral design. "Courtney's dedication and passion for plant science and floral design are truly inspiring," said Kelsey Johnson, Director of Communications. "Her efforts not only elevate our agricultural programs but also foster a vibrant learning environment for both students and teachers."

It's been a busy summer for Mrs. Champagne, who has been interviewed twice by Details Software via Zoom. Details Software aims to raise awareness about floral programs in high schools. "I am thrilled to be part of this campaign," said Courtney Champagne. "I love what I do, and seeing my students flourish is rewarding."

Her summer schedule will continue to be packed as she is set to be the guest speaker for Region 5 later this month, leading a workshop on interactive notebooks. "As you can tell, I rarely slow down. I am always engaged in various activities," Champagne added.

We look forward to the amazing creations she will inspire in her students.
