Silsbee High School Student Council Participates in Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) Annual Conference.

March 29, 2026 - Silsbee High School Student Council recently traveled to San Antonio to participate in the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) Annual Conference. This premier event serves as a hub for over 3,700 student leaders from across the state to sharpen their skills, exchange ideas, and foster a culture of service. A moment of local pride occurred during the opening ceremonies, where Senior Nadia Jessie represented our region by carrying the District 17 flag.

The conference also serves as the official stage for state-wide recognition. For the sixth consecutive year, Silsbee High School was named an Outstanding Student Council.

The council works year-round within four specialized committees to meet rigorous state standards:

  • DASH: Drugs, Alcohol, Safety, and Health

  • E&E: Energy and Environment

  • P&P: Pride and Patriotism

  • Community Service

By earning top honors in every single category, Silsbee received the prestigious Sweepstakes Award. This is an elite distinction achieved by fewer than 300 schools across the entire state of Texas.

While in attendance, students participated in intensive leadership breakout sessions designed to build essential "soft skills." These workshops focused on Strategic Planning, Collaborative Governance, and Effective Communication.

Silsbee students also acted as ambassadors for their community, leading discussions with other schools to showcase our unique Mardi Gras Week as a model for successful school spirit.

This delegation of students were led by High School Student Council Advisor Ms. Angela Camden, Middle School Advisor Ms. Angela Stephens, and Mrs. Jill Poskey.
