Silsbee ISD Earns Top Honors with Superior 'A' Rating in State Financial Accountability

August 12, 2026 - Silsbee Independent School District (Silsbee ISD) has earned a Superior 'A' rating in the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) final financial accountability report, reflecting the district’s ongoing dedication to strong fiscal management and maximizing resources directly for student instruction.

The rating is part of the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), established by the TEA to hold public schools accountable for quality financial practices. The system encourages school districts to continually improve financial operations while ensuring as much funding as possible goes directly into the classroom.

The district's financial team, led by Director of Business and Finance Tricia Brooks, was highlighted for its leadership and fiscal responsibility, which played a pivotal role in securing the top rating.

District leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining strong financial health to support classroom learning.

"Earning a Superior 'A' rating is a significant achievement for Silsbee ISD," said Superintendent Dr. Gregg Weiss, who has led the district since 2019.
