Silsbee ISD Names New Director of Special Education

May 22, 2025 — Silsbee Independent School District is proud to announce the appointment of Scott Schwartz as the new Director of Special Education. With nearly three decades of experience in education, Mr. Schwartz brings a wealth of knowledge, strong leadership, and a deep commitment to student success.

“I’m incredibly honored to have this opportunity to lead the fantastic group of educators who compose our Special Education Department at Silsbee ISD. ,” said Schwartz. “Together, we will continue to build a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential, both in the classroom and beyond.”

Mr. Schwartz served as Principal of Silsbee High School from 2019 to 2023 before moving into the position of Director of Principals and Leadership. In that role, he spearheaded the district’s Principal Leadership Program in partnership with Lamar University, which focuses on mentoring and developing future campus leaders within Silsbee ISD.

“Scott has done an outstanding job cultivating leadership within our district,” said Dr. Gregg Weiss, Superintendent of Silsbee ISD. “His passion for student success, paired with his vision for growth, makes him a great choice to lead our Special Education Department. He is already exploring innovative ways to support our students and empower our educators.”

Silsbee ISD looks forward to the continued impact Mr. Schwartz will make in his new leadership role. With his guidance, the district is confident the Special Education Department will continue to grow stronger and more effective in serving the diverse needs of all students.
