Silsbee ISD Students Spread Holiday Joy Through Annual "Toasty Toes" Program

December 11 2025 - The spirit of giving was alive and well in Silsbee ISD as members of the National Honor Society partnered with Silsbee Elementary for the district’s annual Toasty Toes program, an initiative dedicated to providing shoes and socks for children in need. This year, the generosity and compassion of SHS students created a holiday moment that will be remembered long after the season ends.

The goal of the Toasty Toes program is simple yet impactful: ensure that children who may be facing hardship receive comfortable shoes and socks, but this program ends up giving so much more. This year, NHS students delivered new shoes and socks (and a few extra gifts) to 35 elementary students, and the reaction was nothing short of heartwarming.

“To say our kids went above and beyond is an understatement,” said NHS sponsor Michelle Weichert. “I am so proud of them and the selflessness they displayed today. Seeing the joy on 35 kids’ faces was incredible. I hope our students always remember the gratitude and excitement they witnessed today. Being part of Toasty Toes is one of my favorite experiences since joining Silsbee ISD.”

Silsbee ISD is extremely proud of the National Honor Society for stepping up with such compassion and enthusiasm. Their willingness to serve, give generously, and make the holidays brighter for younger Tigers is a testament to their character and leadership. The district recognizes that programs like Toasty Toes not only warm little feet but warm hearts across the community.

“This is what makes Tiger Nation special,” said Kelsey Johnson, Silsbee ISD Director of Communications. “The giving hearts of our students, their dedication to helping others, and their desire to ensure every child feels valued, especially during the holidays, make us proud every single day.”

The Toasty Toes program continues to grow each year, reminding the community that kindness, when shared, creates a lasting impact. Thanks to Silsbee ISD students and all those who helped make this possible, countless children will step into the holiday season with toasty toes and something special to call their own.
