Silsbee High School Juniors Represent on Congressman Babin’s Student Congressional Advisory Council

September 25, 2025 – Three Silsbee High School students have been selected to serve on Congressman Brian Babin’s Student Congressional Advisory Council (SCAC) during the 2025–2026 school year. The newest members are Braden Seal, Brenna Seal, and Addison Durant.

Under the guidance of teacher Angela Camden, the students recently attended their first council meeting at the San Jacinto Monument and the Port of Houston. During the visit, they learned about our nation’s busiest waterway, explored career opportunities in the maritime industry, and gained insight into the economic impact of the Houston Ship Channel.

It was an honor to accompany Braden, Brenna, and Addison on this incredible experience,” said teacher Angela Camden. “They represented Silsbee High School with maturity and pride. I know this opportunity will inspire them to grow as leaders, and I can’t wait to see all that they will learn through their time on the council.

The day’s activities also included a tour aboard the Sam Houston, where students experienced the Houston Ship Channel firsthand, a viewing of the film Texas Forever at the San Jacinto Monument, and a conversation with Congressman Babin on the monument steps.

Superintendent Dr. Gregg Weiss praised the students for their involvement and representation.

“We are so proud of Braden, Brenna, and Addison for representing Silsbee ISD on the Student Congressional Advisory Council. This experience gives our students the chance to learn beyond the classroom, engage in meaningful discussions, and see firsthand how leadership impacts communities. We look forward to all they will learn and bring back to share with Tiger Nation.”

Silsbee ISD is proud of these students for sharing their voices, gaining valuable experiences, and representing Tiger Nation with pride.
