Three-Peat Triumph: SHS GOLD! Reigns Again at Lamar University Robotics Tournament

November 24, 2024 – Silsbee High School’s Robotics Team, SHS GOLD!, scored three BIG victories at the Spindletop Showdown hosted by Lamar University, bringing home titles in three divisions.

The team, senior Audie Miller and sophomores Sawyer Wimer and Noah Davenport, earned the Tournament Champion, Solo Skills Champion, and Excellence Award. This achievement marks SHS GOLD!’s third consecutive run at the Spindletop Showdown, cementing their legacy as three-time champions of the event.

“It’s amazing to see the impact SHS GOLD! continues to have,” said robotics coach and teacher Vic Miller. “The best part is seeing our alumni Tristan, Reese and Bobby, now running the tournament and helping local schools grow their robotics programs. Keep giving back, guys—you’re making a big difference.”

The Spindletop Showdown, now in its third year, has become a highlight for SHS GOLD! as they prepare for the Texas State Tournament in Houston on February 1, 2025. The team had already secured their state ticket earlier this fall.

“God is good, and moments like this are such a special grace for a teacher,” Miller reflected.

We want to congratulate SHS GOLD! on their amazing success so far this year and look forward to cheering them on at state. Go SHS GOLD!
