Ketchum awarded PCAT Bus Driver of the Year

Beverly Ketchum now in her fifth year as an SISD bus driver.

MARCH 9, 2021 – Silsbee Independent School District is proud to announce Beverly Ketchum as the 2020-2021 PCAT Bus Driver of the Year recently announced.

Property Casualty Alliance of Texas (PCAT) is the largest public school risk pool in the U.S. devoted solely to property and casualty exposure.

Ketchum, now in her fifth year as a bus driver for the district, has grown into the position with care for the children she transports.

She began her annual "Polar Express Bus" where she reads the book to elementary students during her off time inside the decorated bus as she dons the costume of the long-bearded twin brothers while reading.

Along with holiday perks she gives the students, she will also conduct games and activities for all to enjoy during the route.

Also on her off-time, Ketchum will also help newly hired drivers with skills to help better their driving abilities.

Ketchum was chosen as PCAT Bus Driver of the Year based on her driver attributes that includes leadership, attitude, perseverance, student and parent relationships and technical skills.
