City of Silsbee honors Silsbee ISD School Board Trustees
Mayor proclaims January as School Board Recognition Month
JANUARY 26, 2018 – The City of Silsbee honored Silsbee ISD School Board Trustees at its January city council meeting on Monday, January 22, 2018.
Silsbee Mayor Herbert Muckleroy proclaimed January as School Board Recognition Month in the City of Silsbee after a reading of a proclamation to the Trustees that was adopted by city council members.
Muckleroy read and presented the resolution to SISD Trustees Derrell Ferguson, Dana Hancock, President James de Garavilla, Vice President Sam Edd Harrell, Secretary Janis Holt and Tom Hardy. Trustee Sherrie Taylor was not present for the proclamation reading.
“We all appreciate all the hard work you do for our children here in Silsbee,” Muckleroy said.
January has been deemed as School Board Recognition Month by the Texas Association of School Boards.
At its last District Board Meeting on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, students from Silsbee High School honored school board members with gifts, and readings from English and AVID students.
Silsbee High School Principal Paul Trevino organized the presentations that also included several SHS choir members that sang the National Anthem.
Campus principals Terry Deaver from Silsbee Elementary and Sunee Stephens from Edwards-Johnson Memorial Silsbee Middle School also recognized each Trustee with gifts.
SHS Art Students also drew caricatures of each Trustee, which were presented to each that evening.
A final demonstration from the SHS Robotics Club and its robot concluded the presentation to all the Trustees.
