Immunization requirements for incoming seventh-grade students
The Executive Commissioner on Health and Human Services approved several revisions to the immunization requirements for Children and Students in Texas public and private schools. These changes became effective August 1, 2009 and include:
- Meningococcal Vaccine (bacterial meningitis): All students entering 7th grade are required to have one dose of this vaccine.
- Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis Vaccine (Tdap): All students entering 7th grade will be required to have one dose of Tdap vaccine. Students in 7th grade will be required to have a booster dose of Tdap if it has been (5) years since their last dose of a tetanus-containing vaccine.
The law requires that students be fully vaccinated against the specified diseases. For this reason, we are informing you at this time that your student’s immunization record must be up-to-date according to these requirements and the immunization record turned into the school nurse during the day of student schedule pick up in August. It must be turned in before the student’s schedule can be picked up or an ID made for the 2021-2022 school year. If you are unsure if your student meets these requirements, please call your provider. If you have any further questions concerning this letter call the school nurse at 980-7870. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
