• Silsbee High School celebrates Black History Month

Silsbee High School students celebrated Black History Month with a special program on Thursday, February 16.

Guest speaker of the program was Jeremy Williams, who is currently a motivational speaker across the state to various school districts. He is a graduate of Silsbee High School.

The program featured students Denisha Dodis, Hannah Harris, Shunequia Washington, Savannah Shoulders, Sarah Harper, Dallas Jessie, Jasmine Desha and Emery Maze providing the Pledge of Allegiance, Texas Pledge, Negro Pledge, The National Anthem and The Negro Anthem.

The Silsbee High School choir and Silsbee High School Jazz Band performed musical selections, and the Multicultural Club performed a lyric dance.

Before the guest speaker, Jordan Elmore provided a reading of “We Go On”, and Corinthia Alexander and Dakeria Walker performed a musical selection.

The event was hosted by the Silsbee High School Multicultural Club with the theme “Martin Luther King Had A Dream…What’s Yours”.
