Tigers clinch District 22-4A Championship with win over West Orange-Stark

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2018 – The Silsbee Tigers boys basketball team clinched the District 22-4A championship on Friday night with a 105-62 win over West Orange-Stark. It was the 10th consecutive win for the reigning 4A State Champions.

The Tigers (22-8, 9-0) can finish the district season on Tuesday, February 13 at Bridge City with an unscathed district record, and move forward to the playoffs in search of its second state championship.

Silsbee and West Orange-Stark started the game up-tempo on both sides of the ball, and the Tigers fell behind early on when the Mustangs took its only lead of the game 6-3.

Silsbee answered quickly with Braelon Bush hitting back-to-back three-pointers to lifted the Tigers and never looked back.

The Tigers went on a 13-2 run in the first quarter to put the game away quickly.

At the start of the second quarter, Silsbee went on a 6-2 run before a West Orange-Stark timeout that saw the Tigers leading 30-13 at that point.

Bush led the Tigers with 27 points including six three-pointers. Devon McCain finished with 12 points, and Tyrese Harmon finised with 11 points off of the bench.

Also scoring for Silsbee were Landyn Tyler with 10; Cameron White with nine; Jordyn Adams, Chris Martin and K'drian Cartwright each with eight; and Tre Lowe and Kalon Barnes each with six.
