Silsbee Cross Country athletes compete at Region 3 meet

Silsbee High School boys team finishes eighth overall.

NOVEMBER 11, 2020–Nine Silsbee High School cross country runners qualified and competed at the Region 3 Cross Country meet held at Kate Barr Ross Park in Huntsville on Tuesday, Nov. 10. It was a hard-fought day for the Silsbee Tigers running in the tough Region 3 meet.

The SHS Boys qualified for regionals as a team after capturing the District 22-4A championship.

Dylan Wright led the Silsbee boys team finishing 25th overall in a time of 17:26.20. Erik Lawrence was close behind at 28th overall in a time of 17:44.40. The remainder of the team included Cody Rodriguez finishing 50th in a time of 18:31.70, Marc Gutierrez finishing 68th in a time of 19:04.40, Matthew Eyre finishing 72nd in a time of 19:10.90, Bobby Barton finishing 80th in a time of 19:26.90, and Eli Cravy finishing 95th in a time of 19:54.50.

The boys finished eighth overall as a team in regionals with 203 points.

In the girls’ division, Claire Uribe finished tops for Silsbee after finishing 31st in a time of 14:11.70. Annie Bebee followed finishing 52nd in a time of 14:45.50.
