Senior punter, kicker exits Tigers football with prolific career.
FEBRUARY 2, 2021 – Silsbee ISD is thrilled to announce that senior Diego Carreon-Gonzalez signed a letter of intent on Wednesday, February 3 to continue his football career at Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas.
Carreon-Gonzalez leaves a stellar career at Silsbee as one of the most prolific kickers for the Tigers.
“Diego is going to be one of the most difficult players for us to replace,” Head Coach Randy Smith said. “He has been a very dominant player here in the last 3 years in every phase of the kicking game.”
Carreon-Gonzalez helped the Tigers in nine playoff victories including two state semifinal appearances for the Tigers.
“I thank all of my family, teachers and my coaches for this opportunity,” Carreon-Gonzalez said. “I am very grateful for this.”
During his three years as a starter for the Silsbee Tigers, Carreon-Gonzales averaged 40 yards a punt, and kicked 134 extra points and 13 field goals including his longest of 49 yards.
To close out his high school career, Carreon-Gonzalez was an All-District kicker and punter in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and First Team All-State 2019 and 2020 season. He was also named to Second Team All-State in 2018.
