Silsbee High School students shine at UIL Academic Meet
Silsbee High School students competed in the 2021 UIL Academic Meet held at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School on Saturday, March 27. The following are the results of the tournament:
Harlan Self – Number Sense, third place, region qualifier
Number Sense Team: Harlan Self, Jenny Tu, and Bobby Barton, second place.
Josh Flowers –Calculator Applications, fourth place; Computer Science, third place; Science, fourth place; Top Biology Student; region qualifier
Computer Science Team, Josh Flowers, Michaela Landis, and Alexis Pyne, second place.
Chloe Bowers – Spelling and Vocabulary, first place; region qualifier
Estrella Balderas – Spelling and Vocabulary, second place; region qualifier
Spelling and Vocabulary Team: Chloe Bowers, Estrella Balderas, Megan Knighten, and Ribobeto Villanueva, first place, team advances to region.
Andrea Moore – Copy Editing, first place; and Editorial Writing, second place; region qualifier
Amiyah Davis – Poetry, fourth place
Nicole Duke – Lincoln Douglas Debate, second place; region qualifier
Gavin Moore – Science, sixth place
The UIL Regional Meet will be held at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX on Saturday, April 17. All students advancing to the region will have the opportunity to compete for State Tournament advancement on that day.
