HBO's Full Bloom star, Ace Berry, visits Silsbee High School
September 8 - Focus was in full bloom for dozens of students who participated in a demonstration by reality television star Ace Berry.
Berry appeared on HBO Max hit floral show ‘Full Bloom.’ According to HBO Max, Full Bloom finds ten talented and innovative up-and-coming florists bringing their spectacular creative visions to a grueling but gorgeous competition series. In each episode, the budding botanical artists are put to the test in both individual and team challenges that determine whose stems get cut – and who remains in the running for the career-changing $100,000 grand prize to kickstart their business.
On Wednesday, Berry showcased his talents inside the Silsbee auditorium for dozens of students, some from other school districts in Southeast Texas. He demonstrated different styles of floral arrangements and designs.
"I want to inspire people through flowers," said Berry.
During his demonstrations, Berry told students people do not peg him to be a floral designer.
Before his designer days, Berry said he had dreams of being a teacher and football coach. His outlook changed when he had his child. He went into the oilfield and was later laid off work. That is when he decided to follow his passion for flowers.
Berry worked as a florist delivery driver when he was 19 years old and said he fell in love with the creative career.
Berry was named the 2017 Houston Floral Designer of the Year. In 2019, became the Texas Designer of the Year. He told students these two honors were on his list of things he wanted to accomplish as a floral designer. In 2020, Berry was cast in Full Bloom where he was runner up, checking another box on his list.
