NOVEMBER 5 - There is something empowering about putting on that cap and gown, grabbing your diploma and getting ready for that next chapter in life. On Friday, five students enrolled in the iCAN Academy can now call themselves High School graduates. Sean Claridge, Kaitlyn Davis, Hailee Messer, Myesha Porchia and Jace Tompkins have finished their high school career. The students, parents and SISD administrators were present at Friday’s ceremony.

“We could not have asked for a much nicer day.  The students worked hard and definitely should have a lasting memory from today,” said Principal, David Biddle.

The iCAN Academy is a school designed to meet the needs of students who are in danger of not receiving their high school diploma, or who are not progressing toward high school enrollment.

The program offers students teacher-assisted computer-based learning. For high school students, a flexible school day is available. The goal of the Academy is to make sure every student has the necessary assistance to achieve a high school diploma and become a Silsbee ISD graduate.

“We are so proud that these students have persevered and reached their goal of attaining their diploma.  Thank you to the parents and friends who were able to attend and be a part of this milestone event,” said Biddle

The motto for the iCAN academy is “iCAN change, iCAN achieve, iCAN navigate my future. The iCAN Academy has been a part of SISD for 10 years.

The future is now wide open for these 5, now former, Silsbee ISD students.
