For the second straight year, Silsbee ISD scores Superior Rating on its preliminary financial report card
August 2,2022 - For the second year in a row, Silsbee ISD scored an 'A' on its preliminary financial report card. The FIRST preliminary report is for the 2021-22 school year. This is high praise for our financial department from the Texas Education Agency.
According to preliminary ratings, this means the district scored 100, which is a Superior Rating.
The Silsbee ISD finance department led by Tricia Brooks, Director of Business and Finance has done an outstanding job of ensuring responsible fiscal management and transparency for the district.
According to the TEA, the state's school financial accountability rating system, known as the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve these practices. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.
Though these are preliminary ratings, the district rating is not expected to change much, if any.
Final ratings will not come out until later this year.
