SHS Girls Powerlifting team dominates at Class 4A DII State Meet

SHS Girls Powerlifting at State

March 16, 2023 - The Lady Tiger's Powerlifting team has had a victorious 2023 season, marked by several first place team wins and remarkable individual achievements. As the team advanced towards the State Meet, the competition grew tougher, with many talented individuals vying for a place on the podium.

The State Meet, held on March 16, marked the final showdown for the Lady Tigers, and they did not disappoint. In the Class 4A DII category, the team sent 7 girls to compete, and an impressive 5 of them secured medal positions.

It's safe to say that the Lady Tigers have dominated this season, and their triumph at the State Meet is a testament to their hard work and dedication. 

The results are as follows:

- Annie Bebee- 1st place 132 class, best overall lifter on small platform
- Culiesha Busby- 3rd place 259+ class
- Emma Smith- 3rd place 165 class
- Cara Heisner- 5th place 181 class
- Kenli Sonnier- 5th place 220 class
 
With those top place finishes, the Lady Tigers placed 3rd as a team at the State Meet.
The Lady Tigers had a dominating season after winning first at the District and Regionals.
The Lady Tigers head coach is Trent Jones who also won Coach of the Year at the Regional Meet.
These accomplishments will undoubtedly inspire future generations of Silsbee powerlifters to follow in their footsteps.
