“I want to improve on the game and see where it takes me,” Tayor said. “I know it’s going to be tough, and I know that we’re going to train hard, but I’m looking forward to it because I like to compete.”

Taylor rushed for 3,669 yards on 487 carries in three years of varsity play time for the Tigers. He finished the 2019 season with 1,400 yards on 181 carries with 17 TDs. In his career, Taylor finished with 43 rushing TDs.

“I’m going to miss my teammates here in Silsbee, especially all of those team wins and celebrations,” he said. “We have all come together as one, and we have always been close as one. That’s what I’ll miss the most about our Silsbee football team.”

His biggest game came against District 14-4A-D2 foe Hardin-Jefferson on Oct. 18, 2019 when the shifty back rushed for 240 yards on 20 carries and scored three TDs in a 58-24 romp. His longest run of the season came against the Hawks in a 69-yard run.

Taylor’s grittiest performance came against West Orange-Stark in the 4A-DII Region III Finals on Dec. 6 after the senior finished with 138 yards on 22 carries and two TDs. He scored the go-ahead touchdown on an 18-yard scamper with 1:45 in the game to help the Tigers win 35-28 at BISD Memorial Stadium to advance to the 4A-DII State Semifinals.

“I want to be able to continue to change the game and take over with my same mentality,” he said. “It will always be the same Dralyn, the same goal.”

He plans on majoring in chemical engineering because of his love for math and numbers.
